Story Mode Plot[]
At Shrek's Swamp, fairytale creatures arrive at the front of his house, beginning with the Three Blind Mice. Shrek realizes this and attempts to throw them out of his property. When it is revealed that Lord Farquaad banished them, Shrek, along with Donkey, went out on a quest to Duloc.
Meanwhile, Lord Farquaad interrogates and tortures the Gingerbread Man into revealing the location of the fairytale creatures. The Magic Mirror arrives and Lord Farquaad throws Gingy into the trash can. Farquaad asks the Mirror if Duloc is the most perfect kingdom of them all, the Mirror answered that Farquaad is not a king yet but can become one if he were to marry a princess. In a parody of dating shows, the mirror introduced three different princesses for Farquaad to chose from: Cinderella, Snow White, and Princess Fiona. At Thelonious' suggestion, Farquaad chooses Fiona, who is locked away in a tower guarded by a dragon. Despite the mirror's attempt to warn him about what happens at sunset, Lord Farquaad decides to plan a tournament to see which knight would be worthy enough to embark on a quest to retrieve Fiona.
Shrek and Donkey arrive at Duloc to find Lord Farquaad to demand to be given back his swamp.
