Goosebumps

The Goosebumps title in LEGO form.

The Goosebumps (2015)  Story Pack includes R.L. Stine, Zack Cooper, Stine's Wagoneer, and the Bookshelf Gateway.

Summary

When Zach Cooper accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales of R.L. Stine, it's up to Stine, his daughter, Champ and Zack to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.

Level 1 "A Night To Remember"

CUTSCENE

(We see a beautiful shot Zack's house. A green car pulling a mobile storage unit with OCTAN on it pulls up in front of it. Cut to the front yard of the house. Gale Cooper walks into frame.)

Gale: Look, a yard! You'd never get this in New York!

(Zack Cooper follows, carrying a big stack of boxes.)

Zack: Mom, you don't have to keep selling me on this place.

(He trips and is buried by the boxes. He sticks his head out, wearing Benny's helmet. Gale covers her mouth and giggles. A box falls onto the ground in front of the camera, and the Goosebumps title (in LEGO form) bursts out of it and splatters onto the screen. Cut to Zack taking out the trash. There's a SNAP and Zack yells and dives into the trash bin, revealing Hannah through the gap in the fence.)

Hannah: Did I scare you?

(Cut to the bin. Zack sticks his head out with green studs in his hair.)

Zack: Pfft, no!

(Cut to Hannah.)

Hannah: Really? Cuz you jumped like ten feet high, so...

(Cut to a shot of both of them. Zack climbs out of the bin, falls to the ground, and stands up.)

Zack: Y'know, I jump a lot. It's...how I stay in such great shape.

(Zack brushes the green studs out of his hair as he says this. Hannah climbs through the fence gap. Zack rubs the back of his head while smiling awkwardly.)

Zack: So, uh, is there anything fun to do around here aside from scaring your neighbors?

(Hannah looks behind her, then turns back to Zack.)

Hannah: OK, there is one thing I like to do.

(Cut to the forest. We see Zack following Hannah to a large gate.)

LEVEL START

Area #1 "The Carnival"

(We start in the woods at a big gate that is locked. Hannah is standing in front of it.)

Hannah: Ugh, it's locked. Hey, see if you can open it.

Zack: Isn't that breaking and entering?

Hannah: Don't be a scaredy-cat!

(Three carts of fireworks and a barrel are highlighted. The player destroys the barrel, and the pieces for a Device come out. The player builds it. Then the player destroys the 3 firework carts, and these 3 objects come out:

The Shadow Props

After this, the player activates the Device and aims the beam at an old poster to the left with this symbol:

The Project Keystone

The Project Keystone is activated.)

Zack: Ooookay, this is weird for you too, right?

Hannah: Don't worry, you seem okay so far. Just......keep doing what you're doing.

(The keystone shines a beam of light at another old poster to the right:

The incomplete Shadow Puzzle

After this, a hint pops up:

Hint- The Project Keystone can be used to open paths or solve puzzles by activating Shadow Puzzles. To activate a Shadow Puzzle, put the character you’re playing as on a section of the Toy Pad to select a Shadow Prop and turn it in the right position that is shown on the Shadow Puzzle, using the Directional Pad on your controller. (Note: the colors of the Toy Pad will be Green-Left, Yellow-Middle, Light Purple-Right.)

The player does this, and activates the Shadow Puzzle, which now looks like this:

The completed Shadow Puzzle

There's a metallic thunk, and the gate swings open to reveal an unlit area.)

Hannah: Hey, it's open! C'mon!

(The player follows Hannah into the unlit area. There is a fuse box with a button on it.)

Hannah: Go ahead. Push the button!

Zack: Um.....ok.

(The player goes to the button and presses it. There's a powering-up sound, and the camera pans up as strings of lights, along with lightposts, turn on, revealing a giant abandoned carnival.)

Zack: Whoa. What is this place?

Hannah: It's a carnival. They built it years ago, but then they ran out of money. Now it just sits here.

(Hannah runs to the right.)

Hannah: C’mon!

(The player automatically follows Hannah to the right as they run through a street of game stands. As Hannah passes a cotton candy machine, it slowly whirrs to life, then suddenly bursts, creating a big Hazard Puddle blocking the way. The Hazard Cleaner hint pops up, and the player gets rid of the Hazard Puddle. The player goes right again to an open area. Ahead (or upwards, I don’t know anymore), there is a closed gate, that leads to a giant Ferris Wheel, with a security camera and a lever below it. The camera moves over to the gate. Hannah is behind it. She waves to Zack, then runs towards the Ferris Wheel. The camera moves to the security camera as it jolts to life, now scanning the gate. If the security camera sees the player, the lever below the camera will power down and can't be used. The game will indicate that the Stealth ability can be used here. The player uses the Stealth ability and pulls the lever below the camera, shutting off the camera and opening the gate. The player goes through the gate to the Ferris Wheel. There are Twirl Poles that go up the Ferris Wheel in a zig-zag direction. The camera moves to Hannah at the bottom. She jumps onto the lowest Twirl Pole and swings up the other Twirl Poles to the top.)I

Zack: Whoa, whoa, what're you-

Hannah: C'mon, don't be a scaredy-cat!

Zack: I'm not scared, I'm just......not current with my tetanus shots...

Zach: I hate the suburbs.

(The player goes up to the Ferris Wheel, grabs onto the lowest Twirl Pole, and swings up for the top.)

CUTSCENE

(We see a front view of Hannah in a seat at the top of the Ferris Wheel. Zack climbs upup, then flops into the seat, quickly getting up. He looks at Hannah.)

Zack: Hi.

Hannah: Hi.

(The camera cuts to behind them. A beautiful shot of the city is shown far away.)

Hannah: It's cool, right?

Zack: Yea, it's cool! You can see everything from up here!

(There's a moment of silence. Then Zack turns to Hannah.)

Zack: Hey, can I ask you something really serious, Hannah?

Hannah: Yea, what?

(Zack peers down over the side of the seat.)

Zack: How do we get down?

(Cut to outside of Zack's house at night. Zack and Hannah walk up to the house. Then cut to the side of the house with the fence. Zack and Hannah look at each other as Zack rubs the back of his head awkwardly.)

Zack: Thanks for that. It was.......the least terrible time I've had.

Hannah: Aw, Zack, that's so sweet!

???: HANNAH.

(Hannah quickly turns to the fence gap in fear as Zack looks at the fence gap.)

???: What are you doing here? Get back inside. NOW.

Hannah: I-I'm so sorry.

(Hannah goes through the fence gap. Cut to the fence gap. R.L. Stine pokes his head out through the gap, an angry look on his face.)

Stine: I'm warning you. Stay away from us, or something very bad will happen!

(Cut to Zack.)

Zack: I-I believe you.

(Cut back to Stine. He pulls back and hits his head on the top of the fence gap with a CLONK.)

Stine: Ow!

CUTSCENE PART 1 END

(The instruction manual for Stine's Wagoneer appears, and the player builds it. The Wagoneer is now in the game.)

CUTSCENE PART 2 BEGIN

(Cut to the street outside Zack's house. Champ is walking up to Zack's house cheerily.)

Zack: Hey! Hey!

(Champ stops, looks right, and runs over to the right. Cut to Zack crouching at the fence. Champ runs up to him and crouches beside him.)

Champ: So where are the girls?

Zack: Yea, I lied about the girls. But there's this one girl that's locked in this house, and her dad's a psychopath!

Champ: So.....what do we do?

Zack: I called her dad and pretended to be the police. I asked him to come to the station. Now we gotta break in.

Champ: ARE YOU NUTS-

Zack: SSHH!

(Zack covers Champ's mouth. Cut to outside Stine's house. Stine walks outside and looks at his car (the Wagoneer build.) He shrugs and walks off to the right. Cut back to Zack and Champ. Zack drags him right off-screen. Then cut to inside the stairwell to the basement. The door breaks open as Zack, in the Wagoneer, bursts through it and falls down the stairwell, dragging Champ with him. There's a crashing sound. Cut to Zack and Champ on top of each other on the floor, the Wagoneer to the far left of them.)

Champ: Ugh, my dry-cleaning bill will be ridiculous!

Area #2 "Shivers Down Your Spine"

(We start in the basement of Stine’s house. Ahead is the stairway. Rows of bear traps block the path to the stairwell. If the player tries to go through, the bear traps will snap, kill the player, then open back up. To the left, there is a big blue and yellow grandfather clock. It will sometimes ring and have a cuckoo bird come out, then go back in. Farther left, there is a chest in a Hazard Puddle. To the right, there is a big furnace. Next to it is a Valve Switch.)

Champ: Oh! Bear traps! Who puts bear traps in their basement?

(The player goes over to the chest, cleans up the Hazard Puddle, and destroys the chest. A bunch of grey studs come out. The player uses them to build a line of studs leading from the clock to the furnace. Then the player goes over to the Valve Switch next to the furnace and turns it. The camera moves to the furnace. The flames inside intensify and shoot out of the furnace. The camera moves to the line of studs. It ignites and the camera follows the sparks as they move down the line towards the clock. When they reach the clock, the camera zooms out to look at the clock. It catches on fire, then breaks. The pieces for a Keystone Device come out. The camera moves back, and the player builds the Keystone Device. The player activates the Locate Keystone, goes to the middle of the room, and opens a rift. The rift appears up next to the rows of bear traps. Lady Rainicorn (from Adventure Time) flies out of the rift, sets off all the bear traps, which are destroyed after, and flies back into the rift.)

Zack:……..let’s pretend that didn’t happen.

Champ: Yea, agreed.

(The player goes up the staircase to the next stage of the area. We are now in the living room. The door to the stairwell Zack and Champ come out of (to the left of the room) shuts behind them. There’s a rumbling noise, and some dust falls from above.)

Champ: W-what was that?

Zack: Sounds like it came from upstairs.

(There is a door on the wall ahead (or upwards, again, I have no clue) that is closed. There is also a Twirl Pole Switch (with no Twirl Pole), a table with a big stone head bust on top, a cabinet to the far left of the room, a big flat-screen TV next to it on a short dresser, the and an olive green couch (that can be bounced on) in the middle of the room facing the TV. The player goes over to the cabinet and hits it. It opens, and the pieces for a Pressure Switch fall out. Then the player goes over to the couch and bounces on it. The pieces for a wire come out from beneath the cushions. The player builds the Pressure Switch in front of the TV, then builds the wire connecting the Pressure Switch to the TV. Then the player stands on the Pressure Switch, activating it. The wire lights up, and the camera zooms in on the TV as it turns on, playing a part of a cutscene from the Ghostbusters (2016) Story Pack (00:39-00:44). Then the camera zooms out and the TV explodes. A small pile of pieces comes out (not hopping). Then the player goes over to the stone bust and destroys it. Another small pile of pieces comes out (now hopping). The player uses the pieces to build a Twirl Pole Switch next to the door. Then the player activates it, and the door opens. The player goes through the door into a hallway. (The wall behind will fade out when the player enters.) There is a staircase ahead, blocked by a large black dresser. There is also a large glass cupboard to the left of the staircase that has the pieces for a Tow Bar Point inside it. A hint pops up:

Hint- {Stine's Wagoneer} can break Glass using its Sonar Smash ability! Hope action to charge it up, then release to use it.

The player gets in the Wagoneer, drives over to the cupboard, and does this. The cupboard is destroyed, and the pieces come out. Then the player gets out of the Wagoneer, builds the Tow Bar Point onto the dresser, gets back in the Wagoneer, and uses the Tow Bar Point. The dresser is pulled down, and the staircase is now unblocked. The player goes up the stairs into the next part of the area. We are now in a dark (but still visible) study. There is an illuminated, large bookcase filled with black books (aka manuscripts) ahead to the left. The camera focuses on it as Champ runs over to it.)

Champ: Whoa! Look at these!

(Champ takes out a manuscript and looks at the cover.)

Champ: “The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena”?

(Champ, still holding the book, moves left and right, inspecting the bookshelf.)

Champ: These are all Goosebumps manuscripts.

Zack: Who cares?

Champ: I-I know, but why are these locked? Maybe there’s a key or something we can use?

(The camera moves to a normal glass container with an illuminated key inside on a desk in the middle of the room, then moves back.)

Zack: Ugh, fine, if it’s so important to you…

(There is a unlit light hanging above, a big green chair and a coffee table to the far left, and a stack of boxes to the right. The player (not necessarily in this order) goes over to the boxes and destroys them. The pieces for an Accelerator Switch come out. The player builds the Accelerator Switch next to the wall, gets in the Wagoneer, and activates the Accelerator Switch. As the switch slowly activates, the hanging light above slowly gets brighter and brighter, until it pops out. the camera zooms in on it as it swings back and forth, then falls onto the glass container, breaking. The glass container now has a crack on it. The camera moves back. The player goes over to the chair and coffee table and destroys them. A pile of pieces comes out. The player uses them to build a mini-drill on the desk next to the cracked container. The camera moves to it as it starts drilling into the container. It shakes for 3 seconds, then finally breaks. After this, the drill breaks too.)

CUTSCENE

(We are zoomed in on the key. Zack takes the key and walks over to Champ. Cut to Zack and Champ. Zack takes the book from Champ.)

Zack: Alright, you want this open?

(Zack uses the key on the book. It opens slightly with a click. Champ flinches away. There is a moment of silence.)

Zack: There, mystery solved.

(Cut to behind them. We see a black figure with a baseball bat approach Zack and Champ from behind. They raise their bat.)

Zack: Now can we get back to looking for…

(Zack turns around and sees the figure.)

Zack: LOOK OUT!

(Zack tackles Champ to the ground as the figure swings the bat and spins in a circle. Then cut to a light switch. The figure’s hand turns it on, and the lights turn on. The camera quickly zooms out to reveal the figure as Hannah.)

Hannah: Zack?

(Cut to Zack and Champ lying on the ground, holding each other. Zack pushes Champ away and gets up.)

Zack: Heeeeey, Hannah.

(Cut back to Hannah. She gives Zack a scolding look.)

Hannah: What are you doing in my house?

(Cut to Zack.)

Zack: I thought you might’ve been…..chained up, possibly.

(Cut back to Hannah.)

Hannah: Why would you think that?

(Cut back to Zack.)

Zack: Because I heard you scream-

(Champ pops up in front of Zack.)

Champ: Hi! I-I’m Champ!

(Cut back to Hannah. Champ shakes her hand.)

Champ: Nice to…meet you.

(Hannah pulls away and looks at Zack.)

Hannah: Did you unlock a book?

(Cut back to Zack. He turns around and walks back.)

Zack: Ah, yea, I did, sorry.

(Zack looks around for the manuscript.)

Zack: It should be around here somewhere.

(Cut to the manuscript lying on the floor, next to the desk. Zack sees it and walks over to it.)

Zack: Look, here it is-

(Cut to Hannah. She pushes Champ out of her way and runs to Zack, a look of fear on her face.)

Hannah: NO, DON’T OPEN IT!

(Cut back to Zack. He grabs an end of the book and lifts it, opening the book. The inside of the book faintly glows bright turquoise as the book flies out of Zack’s hand with a whoosh.)

Zack: Whoa!

(Cut to a wide shot of the room. The book lands on the floor in the middle of the room, closed. It then opens, shaking as the inside still faintly glows bright turquoise. Cut to Hannah. With a look of determination on her face, she runs to the book and reaches for it.)

Hannah: NO!

(Cut to the book. When Hannah’s hand gets close, the book releases a shockwave and the inside glows brighter. Cut to Hannah, Zack, and Champ being blown back by the shockwave. They then fall to the floor. Cut back to the book. The camera zooms in on the middle to show the two open pages with text. The text begins to move and swirl around the space between the two pages. A small white rift forms in the middle of where the ink is swirling, and black studs begin to swirl out of the rift in a tornado-like formation. Cut to the wide shot of the room again. The tornado of black studs begins to form a black, inky Big-Fig (that’s what they’re called, right?). It starts roaring as it continues to grow. Then the black begins to fade, and the real form is shown as the Abominable Snowman. Cut to the Snowman hitting his head on the ceiling, cracking it. The Snowman grunts. Cut to a shot of the creature standing over the book. The tornado dies down, and the book stops glowing. Then cut to Zack and Hannah lying on the ground. Zack is looking at the Snowman in shock, and Hannah is glaring at the Snowman. Champ is slowly backing away behind them. Zack looks at Hannah.)

The Abominable Snowman

Zack (Whispering): What is going on?

Hannah (Whispering): Nobody. Make. A sound.

(Cut to Champ. He backs into a lamp, knocking it over. It smashes on the ground, and Champ flinches. Cut to the Snowman. It turns to the camera, alerted. Cut back to Champ. He screams in fear. Cut back to the Snowman. It screams in fear like a girl and runs off-screen. Cut to outside the house. The Snowman breaks through a wall on the second floor and lands on the ground, then starts running. Cut to Hannah, Zack, and Champ. Hannah gets up, grabs the book, and runs out the door.)

Hannah: My dad's gonna kill me!

Zack: Hannah, wait!

Level 2 "The Monsters Escape"

CUTSCENE

(We see Zack and Champ in the study, facing the giant hole in the wall. Through it, we can see the street, along with a glimpse of Hannah running down the street. Cut to a shot of the camera facing the front of Zack and Champ. Zack turns around and runs to the door. Champ turns around and yells to Zack.)

Champ: Wait, Zack, where are you going?!

(Cut to Zack In front of the door. He stops running and turns to Champ, determined.)

Zack: I’m going to find Hannah.

(Cut back to Champ. He points at the partly-destroyed bookcase.)

Champ: What about the bookcase? We can’t just leave it like this!

(Cut back to Zack. He rolls his eyes and walks away from the door.)

ADVENTURE WORLD

(We are in Stine’s house, in the study. The partly-destroyed bookcase is ahead. The player destroys it. A big pile of pieces is now in place of the partly-destroyed bookcase. The player goes to the designated spot, presses the action button, and is prompted to build the Bookcase Gateway. The player builds it, and the Bookcase Gateway is now in the game. After this, we see the study again, and the camera moves to the giant hole in the wall. A trail of ghost studs leads out through the hole onto the street.)

Zack: Alright, let’s go find Hannah.

(The camera moves back, and the player follows the trail of ghost studs through the suburbs, a bit through the city, to the ice rink. When the player reaches the ice rink, the camera moves to the entrance. The doors are torn aside, and a broken soda machine in front of it has created a Hazardous Puddle big enough so that the player can’t jump over it. (If the player tries to drive through it with the Wagoneer while the puddle is still there, the soda machine will block it.) The camera moves back, and the player cleans up the Hazardous Puddle. The soda machine can now be destroyed. The player destroys the soda machine and goes through the entrance.)

CUTSCENE

(We see Hannah standing alone in the ice rink. Zack and Champ run in to Hannah from the right. Champ slips and falls onto his face when they reach Hannah. Cut to a close up on the 3. Zack puts his hand on Hannah’s shoulder.)

Zack: Hannah, what’s going on?

(Hannah pushes his hand off and puts her hand over Zack’s mouth.)

Hannah: SHH! It’s here!

(Cut to a wide shot of the ice rink. There is silence for 3 seconds. Cut back to the 3. Zack looks at Hannah confused and takes her hand off of his mouth.)

Zack: Are you sure-

(A candy bar falls onto Zack’s head and bounces off.)

Zack: Ow!

(Zack looks at the candy bar.)

Zack:.......candy?

(Another candy bar falls onto his head.)

Zack: Ow!

(Zack looks up, annoyed, then gets a look of surprise on his face. He pulls Hannah and Champ back quickly.)

Zack: LOOK OUT!

(Hannah and Champ yell as they are pulled back. Right after they’re pulled back, a broken vending machine falls and crashes onto where they were standing. Cut to a shot of the vending machine. The Snowman lands onto it from above, reaches into it, pulls out a candy bar, and eats it. It makes a sound of satisfaction, then reaches in again. Cut to Zack, Hannah, and Champ. Zack and Champ drag Hannah away from the Snowman. Hannah squirms and struggles.)

Zack: It’s distracted, c’mon!

Hannah: What are you doing? Stop it!

Zack: We’ll talk about this later!

(Cut to a close-up of Hannah.)

Hannah: No, you don’t understand! The only to stop it is to suck it back into the book!

(Cut to a close-up of Champ.)

Champ: Just drop the book, let it suck itself back in!

(Cut to a side shot of Hannah. She breaks free of their grasp.)

Hannah: No, I’m not close enough!

(Cut to a front shot of Hannah. She stands up, holds the book up, and slightly opens it with a click. Cut to the Snowman. It stops and looks at the camera, glaring. It slowly stands up and steps down from the vending machine, walking toward the camera. Cut to Hannah with Zack and Champ standing behind her. Cut back to the Snowman. It starts speeding up. Cut back to Hannah.)

Champ: W-what are you waiting for? Open the book!

Hannah: Just a little closer…

(Cut to the Snowman. It continues to speed up, and raises its left arm. Cut back to Hannah.)

Zack: Hannah!

Hannah: A little more…

(Cut back to the Snowman. It is close to the camera, approaching fast with its arm raised high. Cut back to Hannah.)

Zack & Champ: HANNAH!

Hannah: NOW!

(Cut to the book. She begins to open it. Cut to the Snowman. He swings his arm with a roar. Cut back to Hannah. She’s hit by the arm and is knocked to the side. The book is also knocked out of her hands. Cut to Zack.)

Zack: Hannah!

(Cut to a shot of the manuscript on the ice. Far behind it, we see the Snowman to the left and Zack to the right, both looking at the book. The Snowman starts running toward it. Cut to Zack. He gasps and franticly glances around. Then he looks left. Cut to a rack of hockey sticks on the wall. Then cut to the Snowman getting close to the manuscript. It reaches for the manuscript. As soon as it does this, a hockey stick quickly zooms toward the book and hits it, knocking it away. The Snowman tries to stop, but ends up faceplanting into the wall ahead. Cut to the book sliding across the ice. It starts slowing down, then stops at someone’s feet. They bend over and pick it up, and the camera moves up to show that the person is Stine. He glares at the camera, adjusts his glasses, then begins walking towards the camera.)

Area #1 “A Frosty Fight”

The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena Boss Battle

(First, note that the player must have Stine on the Toy Pad for this.)

(We are in the ice rink. The words “The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena” appear on-screen, indicating the boss battle. We see the Snowman ahead, pounding on the ground and roaring. There is a large zamboni to the far right, and the broken vending machine to the far left. The player cannot destroy them.)

Zack: O-oh, sir! Um.....I'm so sorry about this-

Stine: Zip it, boy! And help me take this thing down!

Zack: O-ok.

(The Snowman raises his arms, then pounds on the ground, sending a trail of sharp ice towards the player. This repeats 3 times. Then mini-snowmen climb out of the ground and attack the player.)

Zack: What is happening right now?!

Stine: I can get rid of them with the manuscript! Just keep fighting!

(The player switches to Stine and kills 10 mini-snowmen. The Snowman backs up a little bit, then charges at the player. This repeats 2 times. Then the snowman jumps back to its original spot, stomps on the ground, and a big chunk of ice sticks out of the ground. The Snowman grabs it and lifts it. A targeting icon appears under the player.)

Stine: Quick! Get it to throw that chunk of ice at something!

(The player (not necessarily in this order) runs over to behind the vending machine, and the targeting icon follows them. The camera focuses on the Snowman as it throws the chunk at the vending machine. The camera follows the chunk as it hits the vending machine. Both the chunk and the vending machine are destroyed, and a pile of pieces (not hopping) come out. The camera moves back, and the Snowman roads in anger.)

Stine: Yes, that's it! Keep doing that!

(The Snowman once again raises his arms, then pounds on the ground, sending a trail of sharp ice towards the player. This repeats 3 times. Then mini-snowmen climb out of the ground and attack the player. The player switches to Stine and kills 20 mini-snowmen. The Snowman backs up a little bit, then charges at the player. This repeats 2 times. Then the snowman jumps back to its original spot, stomps on the ground, and a big chunk of ice sticks out of the ground. The Snowman grabs it and lifts it. A targeting icon appears under the player. The player runs over to behind the zamboni, and the targeting icon follows them. The camera focuses on the Snowman as it throws the chunk at the zamboni. The camera follows the chunk as it hits the zamboni. Both the chunk and the zamboni are destroyed, and a pile of pieces (now hopping) come out. The camera moves back, and the Snowman roads in anger. More mini-snowmen climb out of the ground and attack the player.)

Stine: Quick! Build something! Anything!

(The player uses the pieces to build a giant flamethrower. The camera focuses on it as it aims at the Snowman, then blasts it with fire. The Snowman roars, and melts into a big black puddle of ink. The flamethrower explodes, and the camera moves to the big puddle of ink as it reforms as the Snowman, now sitting on the ground, dazed. Then the camera moves to in front of the Snowman. A spot with a manuscript icon appears.)

Stine: Alright, stand back, child.

(The camera moves back. The player switches to Stine, and a hint pops up:

Hint- Stine can use his Manuscript to capture Monsters using his Manuscript Capture ability! When using this ability, sections of the Toy Pad will illuminate for a short period of time. Put Stine's figure on that section before it goes out, then repeat this action 9 more times to successfully capture a Monster!

The player goes over to the spot and does this. As the player is doing this, the Snowman turns and grabs onto the glass wall behind it. Starting from its feet, it will slowly turn to black and be sucked into the manuscript, as black studs come off of it and also get sucked in.)

CUTSCENE

(We see the Snowman roar in fear as it looses its grip and is dragged into the book. Its limbs dissipate into black ink and black studs as they are sucked in. Cut to a shot of the Snowman's head in the manuscript. It roars, and the book is slammed shut by Stine. He lowers the manuscript and adjusts his glasses. Cut to Zack leaning on the glass wall, panting heavily. Hannah and Champ peek out from the bottom. Cut back to Stine.)

Stine: All of you-

(He points to the right.)

Stine: -in the car-

(He stomps on the ground, looking furious.)

Stine: NOW!!!

(Cut to a street. We see Stine in the front of the Wagoneer, driving. Zack, Champ, and Hannah are on top of the car.)

Stine: I told you to stay away from us or something bad would happen! But that's the problem with kids today, they don't listen!

(He sighs. There's a moment of silence.)

Zack: You're him, aren't you?

Stine: Hm?

Zack: You're R. L. Stine.

Stine: R. L. who? I...don't know who that is.

(Zack raises an eyebrow.)

Zack: Oh, really?

(He looks away for a bit, then looks back at Stine.)

Zack: Well, just as well, because his books suck.

(Stine's eye twitches in anger.)

Zack: I mean, I don't know which one I hate more, Monster Blood or Go Eat Worms.

(Champ looks at him, confused.)

Champ: I'm...so confused.

Zack: You can see the endings coming from a mile away...

(Stine nods, a sarcastically smug look on his face.)

Zack: It's like, stop trying to be Stephen King, man-

(Stine grunts in anger as he abruptly stops the car. Zack flies off the car, onto the road.)

Stine: Let me tell you something about Steve King. Steve King WISHES he could write like me! And I've sold WAY more books than him, but nobody ever talks about THAT!

(Cut to Zack lying on the road. He raises his hands defensively.)

Zack: O-Okay.

(Cut to a shot of Stine's house.)

Stine: Hannah, you get A through M-

(Cut to Stine walking through a hallway as Hannah, Zack, and Champ follow behind.)

Stine: -I'll get M to Zed.

(Cut to the study. Stine and the others walk in.)

Stine: And keep the Man-Eating Plants away from the Bug-Eyed Aliens!

(Stine stops and looks down to the right. Everyone else stops as well. The camera quickly moves right to show the open book on the floor.)

Stine: Oh no.......not him.....

(Cut to Stine.)

???: Hello, papa.

(Stine tenses up when he hears this and slowly turns his head right. The camera also turns right to show Slappy sitting in a chair, looking at him.)

Slappy

Slappy: How long's it been? Feels like forever.

(Cut to Stine and the others all looking at him in fear. Then cut back to Slappy. He glances left and raises his eyebrows.)

Slappy: Who are your new friends?

(Cut to Zack and Champ. They stammer.)

Zack: W-We're not...his...

Champ: We b-barely know him...

(Cut to Stine. He very slowly walks toward Slappy.)

Stine: Slappy, it's........so nice to see you again.

(Cut to Slappy. He looks back at Stine.)

Slappy: Did you miss me?

(Cut back to Stine. He is closer to Slappy now, and still approaching.)

Stine: Of course I missed you.

(There's a beat of silence. Then cut back to Slappy. There's the sound of thunder, and the lights flicker out. Then they turn back on. Slappy is gone.)

Slappy: So what's the plan, friend?

(Cut to Stine and the others turning around. Then cut to Slappy holding the key, looking at it.)

Slappy: You must've brought me out for something fun.

(Slappy raises his arms.)

Slappy: Terrorize the locals?

(Slappy slaps the key onto his other hand.)

Slappy: Destroy the town?

(Slappy looks at Stine.)

Slappy: Let's get SILLY!

(Cut to Stine. He is slowly walking toward the book on the floor ahead of him.)

Stine: That's right, Slappy. I'm going to destroy Madison, and I....

(He quickly glances down, then back at Slappy.)

Stine: I couldn't do it without you.

(Cut back to Slappy.)

Slappy: Aw, shucks. You're giving me...

(He turns his head left.)

Slappy: Oh, what's the word?

(He looks back at Stine.)

Slappy: Goosebumps.

(He starts laughing maniacally and clutches his stomach in laughter. Cut to Champ and Zack.)

Champ: Oh my gosh, he is so creepy.

(Cut to Stine. He's still moving to the book.)

Stine: Oh, he is such a crack-up.

(He looks down and leans toward the book.)

Stine: Such a clever dummy...

(Cut to Slappy. He looks at him, irritated.)

Slappy: Who you callin' "dummy", dummy?

(Cut back to Stine. He looks back up at him. Then cut back to Slappy. He looks down. Cut to the book. Then cut to Stine. He looks at the book, then back at Slappy. Cut back to Slappy. He looks up at Stine angrily.)

Slappy: You're trying to put me BACK IN!?

(Cut back to Stine. He quickly waves his hands dismissively.)

Stine: No no no no no, don't be silly!

(Cut to Slappy. He glares at Stine and balls up his hands into fists.)

Slappy: I know when you're lying to me, PAPA!

(Cut back to Stine. He frowns and lunges for the book. Cut to the book. There's the sound of thunder again, and the lights flicker out as Stine lunges to the book. Then the lights come back on, and Stine is lying on the floor. There's the sound of a blowtorch activating, and Stine quickly looks up. Cut to Slappy standing at the hole in the wall, holding his manuscript in his right hand, and a blowtorch in his left. He is wearing a helmet with a visor pointed up. He glares at him.)

Slappy: You've made Slappy very unhappy.

(Cut to Zack, Champ, and Hannah. Stine quickly gets up. Then cut back to Slappy.)

Slappy: He's not going back on the shelf ever again.

(He puts his visor down over his eyes and aims the blowtorch at the manuscript. Cut to Stine. He reaches out to him.)

Stine: Slappy, no, wait!

(Cut back to Slappy. The manuscript catches on fire, and he tosses it outside. He looks at his arm, which is also on fire, and exclaims. He drops the blowtorch and pats his arm frantically, putting the flames out. Then he breathes a sign of relief, takes off the helmet, and tosses it outside. He looks at Stine.)

Slappy: Tonight's gonna be the best story you've ever written.

(Cut to Stine and the others looking at him in fear. Then cut back to Slappy.)

Slappy: All of your children are coming out to play.

(He laughs evilly, and thunder strikes again. The lights flicker out, then turn back on. Slappy is gone. Cut to Stine and the others.)

Champ: Oh, thank God he's gone!

Stine: Oh, God.......he's gone.....

(Stine looks at the Bookcase. Cut to the Bookcase. All the books are gone. Cut back to Stine. He quickly looks at the others.)

Stine: And he's taken all the books.

(Cut to the stairwell. We see Stine, Zack, Hannah, and Champ run down.)

Stine: Congratulations! You've just released a demon!

Zack: Wh-hey, I only opened one book!

Hannah: The Snowman must've knocked Slappy's book down.

(They reach the bottom and run to the right. Cut to the kitchen. Stine and co. run in. They stop and look in confusion. Cut to a garden gnome in the middle of the room. It looks at the camera and waves, smiling. Cut back to Stine and co.)

Champ: Why is that here?

Zack: I dunno. Maybe it's friendly?

(Cut back to a close up of the gnome. It suddenly pulls out a knife and giggles maniacally. The camera quickly zooms out to show the full kitchen. Gnomes suddenly pop out of every cabinet, the oven, and the dish washer, all wielding various kitchen items.)

AREA #2 "Kitchen Nightmares"

(We are in the kitchen. 5 gnomes in the middle of the room begin to attack the player, as more gnomes start coming out of the cabinets. (Note: the gnomes are killed with 1 hit, but their pieces don't disappear.))

Zack: Not friendly! Definitely not friendly!

(The player must kill 25 gnomes. After that, this dialogue plays:)

Champ: Oh my gosh, they’re EVERYWHERE!

Stine: Just keep fighting!

(Then some gnomes will jump on the player, stunning them (Y’know, the thing where the Toy Pad flashes red.) The player breaks free. The inside of the nearby oven glows orange. Then the oven door bursts open, and flames shoot out of it with a WOOSH. The pieces for a Valve Switch come out of the oven.)

Champ: AAH! FIRE!!!

Hannah: Put it out, PUT IT OUT!

(The player builds the Valve Switch in front of the sink and turns it. The camera focuses on the sink. There’s a gurgling noise, and the sink suddenly shoots out a stream of water. The camera cuts to the oven. The water falls onto the fire, and the fire goes out. The pieces for a Ghost Containment Unit are revealed. The camera then moves to a gnome standing in front of the back door. It cackles and pulls out a manuscript.)

Stine: Look out! It’s got a-

(The gnome opens the manuscript, and it bursts open, killing the gnome holding it and falling to the floor. Ghosts fly out of it to the ceiling. They surround the ceiling, and the camera zooms out to show the whole kitchen. The cabinets fly open, and various kitchen utensils fly out of them, glowing green. They swirl around, and are thrown at the player one by one.)

Stine: Don’t worry, I got it!

(The player switches to Stine and uses the Ghost Capture ability. The ghosts are captured, and the utensils fall to the floor and disappear. The player builds the Ghost Containment Unit next to the back door and uses it. The camera moves to the door, and it opens to reveal a bunch of gnomes holding up a big chainsaw. They all giggle.)

Zack: Close it, close it!

(The door slams shut. Then it is repeatedly banged on by the gnomes on the other side. The camera moves to the fridge. It starts shaking for a bit, then bursts open. Some gnomes jump out of it to attack the player, and a big Hazardous Puddle is formed in front of it. A pile of pieces is in the Puddle. The player switches to Zack, cleans up the puddle, and uses the pieces to build some boards over the back door.)

Zack: There, that should hold!

(The player must now kill 30 gnomes. After this, a few more gnomes come out and jump on the player, stunning them. The player breaks free. The camera zooms out to show the entire kitchen.)

Zack: Whew.....okay....I think they're gone.

Stine: No, they're not.

Champ: W-what do you mean they're not?

Stine: You can’t kill my monsters. They always come back…

(The camera zooms in a bit on the pieces of the gnomes scattered on the floor. They slowly start to pile together. Then, with the reversed sounds of breaking porcelain, they slowly start to form a giant gnome. When it’s fully formed, it stomps on the ground and giggles in a deep voice. The camera moves back, and 5 more gnomes start coming out of the cabinets. (Note: Now when they’re killed, after 7 seconds, their pieces will move together and reform, with the reversed sound of breaking porcelain.) The giant gnome lifts up its foot and stomps on the ground, sending out a shock wave that the player must jump over. Then it raises its other foot and does the same thing. Then it raises its arms. Its hands glow, and more kitchen utensils fly out of the cabinets towards the player. This goes on for 10 seconds. Then it slumps over, tired. A health bar appears on top of the screen. The player attacks the giant gnome until its health bar is 2/3 full. Then the health bar fades away. The giant gnome once again lifts up its foot and stomps on the ground, sending out a shock wave that the player must jump over. Then it raises its other foot and does the same thing. Then it raises its arms. Its hands glow, and more kitchen utensils fly out of the cabinets towards the player. This goes on for 10 seconds. Then it slumps over, tired. A health bar appears on top of the screen. The player attacks the giant gnome until its health bar is 1/3 full. Then the health bar fades away. The giant gnome yet again lifts up its foot and stomps on the ground, sending out a shock wave that the player must jump over. Then it raises its other foot and does the same thing. Then it raises its arms. Its hands glow, and more kitchen utensils fly out of the cabinets towards the player. This goes on for 10 seconds. Then it slumps over, tired. A health bar appears on top of the screen. The player attacks the giant gnome until its health bar is fully depleted.

CUTSCENE

(The giant gnome shatters into little gnome pieces. Cut to Stine and the others, panting for breath.)

Zack: Are we….are we safe yet?

(In the same shot, the camera focuses on the pieces. A few of them come together, with the reversed sound of breaking porcelain, to reform a gnome. Cut to the pieces scattered across the floor. They all suddenly reform into gnomes. Cut back to Stine and the others.)

Stine: There’s too many of them.

Zack: We need to get to the basement!

Stine: It’s locked.

Zack: I bashed it open.

(Zack runs to the left. Champ and Hannah follow. Stine double takes and looks left, then runs left.)

Stine: That’s breaking and entering!

(Cut to the open basement door outside Zack and the others run through it. Zack quickly turns around, reaches in, and pulls the door shut. Then they all sigh in relief. Zack looks at Stine.)

Zack: Why couldn’t you have written stories about rainbows and unicorns?!

Stine: Because that doesn’t sell 400 million copies.

(Champ looks at him, surprised. Embers start floating down from above.)

Champ: Whoa! Domestic?

Stine: No, worldwide. It’s still…very impressive, shut up.

(Stine and the others then notice the embers floating down. Stine looks ahead in the direction of the camera, slightly freezes, then starts walking toward the camera. Zack and the others follow him. Cut to a burning book at the front of the driveway. Stine and the others walk up to it. The camera moves up to them.)

Hannah: He’s burning the books.

(Zack turns to Stine.)

Zack: Why is he doing that?

Stine: So that there’s no way to get the monsters back inside.
