Background
Darth Plagueis was a Sith Lord who was powerful enough to call on the Force to create life and to prevent those he cared about from dying. However, he was unable to prevent his own death, and after he had learned everything he needed to, Plagueis' apprentice, Darth Sidious, killed him. Sidious, known as Senator and then Chancellor Palpatine by most, told Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker of Plagueis' powers and his death as part of his plan to turn Anakin to the dark side of the Force, a plan that was ultimately successful.
