General Discussion
Heyo. I'm ShadeTheNarwhal, but you may refer to me as Shade. I typically hang around the LMMCU Wiki, but I've decided to come here to share my LD Custom ideas. I'm pretty excited to meet the people who are here but not at LMMCU. Yeah, that's all I have to say, go check my ideas here.
Just Updated
So this is it. The end. Everything the game and its creators has built up to and foreshadowed has been for nothing, and most of the final packs were for atrocious reboots. The fandom has been left in the dust. All because LEGO couldn't make a profit. I don't think LEGO realizes how the game and similar practices could affect the brand in a positive way. Who would have ever thought we could get minifigures based on franchises like Gremlins and The A-Team without this game? And if they decided to change their marketing instead of pre-matureley abandoned ship, they could've, in theory, thrived like Amiibo. So you may be asking: "What is amiibo doing that LEGO Dimensions and other toys-to-life franchises were't?" Well, if you ask me, I say it's all in marketing not only the game, but the figures themselves as well.
If you look at games like Skylanders, LEGO Dimensions, and Disney Infinity, everything about them seems to be marketing to children and teens with the game, wheras Amiibo's advertising focuses less on the compatible games than it does on the figures themselves. They could have also supported this by adding physical instructions for the vehicles and gadgets. The Starter Pack was also pretty expensive, which may have turned people away from the game. But if they didn't advertise the game as much, it could have been better.
But alas, our only hope now is that they try something similar in the future. Maybe figures that work with every LEGO game, or maybe just figures, kind of like the exclusive minifigures they give out at 'cons, but sold at stores. Maybe they'll even add Lord Vortech to one of those lineups if they get enough demand. As for LEGO Dimensions itself, it seems it will never see the light of day ever again.
I have noticed that there are currently, as of posting this, 93 articles without categories on this wiki. I have chosen to acknowledge this and am asked all of you to help add the respective categories to all of the articles as shown with the link provided. http://lego-dimensions-customs.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Insights/uncategorizedpages
I just wanted the people of the wiki to know this, but there are to many custom franchises on the wiki. And overall, its just getting kinda jumbled. So I'm just saying it's probably time we started working more on premade franchises, because it's kinda starting to take over the site.
Please stop adding categories like Human or Males, it doesn't follow actual format and is annoying to get rid of.
I'd like to see about using a level infobox, but I don't know how to code infoboxes.
I have been getting quite a few requests for fun pack, level pack and team pack templates for customs, so I compiled all the ones that I have found and used from Reddit, for your convenience. Keep in mind that these are free to use, but were not made by me, so all credit goes to the original creators.
So there are many different formats on here currently as the site's still new but, could the format for objects be like the Super Sprinter or the Court Desk? Where it's built with the Object template first then a table showing all alternate builds of the object and then some info about the object. I find it easier to navigate between pages this way.
If you're using (and probably) LEGO Digital Designer, the Toy and Character Tags were actually put in. They're called "cirkle".
